I'm Lee Burgess
As a licensed couples therapist, I understand why people are ambivalent about starting couples therapy. They should be. They're not sure what to expect from any given couples therapist. I want to give you in-depth information to help you make informed decisions about couples therapy on the front end.
When my spouse and I started couples therapy , we had a head start…
We are both therapists. I had already received hours of intensive training in the methods of couples therapy we were doing. Even a little prior education of the theories and concepts went a long way to making the process more effective and efficient.
I wish every one of my couples therapy clients could have had a couples therapy 101 course before starting. There is so much helpful baseline information that does not need to begin in a first session on a couch.
This is what I hope to provide in this course: Before Starting Couples Therapy
My hope for you:
I don't want you to feel desperate for relationship help. I want you to feel like you have many options as well as feel confident navigating toward whatever will be a good fit for you and your partner. I want to give you a large library of cumulative knowledge I have gained from extensive training and work with couples, that I wish everyone had before they even send a message to a prospective therapist.
Outcomes of this course are intended to help you:
- Decide if you want to start couples therapy
- Feel prepared to navigate the subject with your partner
- Know what questions to ask in your provider search
- Feel more informed in your therapist shopping
- Have baseline knowledge when starting therapy
- Increase understanding of your relationship complexities
- Consider alternatives to try before or alongside couples therapy
